In Dreams is a setting of the Christina Rossetti poem “Echo,” in which the poet remembers and mourns a lost love. Each of the three stanzas is bracketed by a set of bell-like chords, gradually building to a plea for the beloved to “Come back to me in dreams, that I may give / Pulse for pulse, breath for breath.”
Commissioned by the College of Musical Arts for the Bowling Green State University Men’s Chorus, Richard Schnipke, conductor.
